The serial number is very low CM000xx as in the last two digits are below 20. It came with a Tapco dragonuv plastic stock set installed. Were the S/A's imported earlier than 1999?

Technically speaking, the ARM and MISR rifles would still be more 'genuine' than any of recent kits that may be built on US-made receivers, despite the unique Arabic markings on the rear sight leafs and rear sight blocks. You guys as always are correct, I have two '95' marked ARM's, Two '93' marked ARM's and an RML with no year mark in the Tashkent (Pharohs Hat) or any yerar or markings on my Misr-10. Many people get Misr confused with Misr Mak the Egyptian/Chinese Hybrid. Import/Export, a Steyr is the genuine semi Auto standard, but add the slant comp, a lil weld to the bbl lug ears, a wooden stock and plastic PG, and you have a poor mans Steyr. Maadi/MISR/ARM/RML/S/A/-10, about the same RPM longer bbl RPK version Misr/Mak Chinese/Egyptian Steyr top of the line Steyr late 80's (82-93) ARM/RML (93-95) S/A - 10 somewhere after that. Pics would help. OK,,,Back from flying,, managed to snap a couple photos while swatting mosquitoes. I have three of these mags. They do not hold open the bolt, but they load very smoothly, lock into the rifle without any hang-ups, and they seem to be free of any burrs or dings. On the other hand I have a couple that are supposedly Polish and they don't work so well. So what do you think they are.??? They were sold as Yugos.

The PolyTech Legend is the AKS version of the Russian AK47 PolyTechs are king of all AK's one step below a genuine 1950 Russian original AK47. The Chinese MAK90's of pre-'98 import are also quality AK's like the Egyptian MAADI of same era. Don't mistake the Misr10 (takes only single stack mags) or Misr90 (Chinese&Maadi put together Frankenstein rifles) for the complete Chinese MAK90's. Only problem with the MAK90's is the slanted receiver. The three rifles mentioned above were manufactured by military personnel in military arsenals of said countries. All, and I mean ALL current imports today are INFERIOR to the rifles mentioned above.
Only took me 10 years:) I still have the certificate, I think even the thumbhole stock for some reason. It's one of my favorite AK's, right behind my Chinese spiker, & Legend. (If you want to appreciate Chinese workmanship, compare a Legend next to the Maadi). FYI, some Maadi's were imported in the early 1990's that had the FA Y stamped receiver with the FA hole drilled and then filled with a rivet. I had one of these for a couple of months and got a call from my friend who was the dealer that I pruchased the rifle from. He had been notified by the importer (Pars or Intrac, I can't remember) that these were considered machine guns by the ATF and had to be returned. I had to send it back to the importer and they sent me a new rifle without the rivet (Y stamp and no rivet).
There are still a few MAK-90s out there that are considered 'machine guns' by BATFE. (Sometimes imported by LABANU INC, Ronkonkoma, NY) These Norinco receivers have the 'third hole' for the auto sear drilled through the receiver just above the mag release. This will look like a second flattened rivet/screw right above the mag release.

Remove the stock and look at the rear of the receiver. It may actually be straight cut. It would be good to be sure about this before you spend money on a specialized stock set. Or do you think they are a combo of chinese and yugo parts???? I double checked and there are no markings of any kind on any of the parts. I only have one other mag that locks into the rifle better and has an as-smooth spring and follower. I thought it was an early Polish, but now that I look the follower hump looks a little too square.

If it was a genuine maadi it would be a arabic marked rear sight base.Everthing else is just a export model. The domestically used Maadi rifles and the export versions are all genuine Maadi rifles. The recent Maadi military kits, the Maadi ARM's, and the Maadi MISR's are all essentially 'genuine' Maadi rifles. The only ones that are actually, generally different are the bastardized MISR-90 models.
